Przekaż informację zwrotnąGreek wine, Greek beer and Greek food. It was a lovely night out my partner and I had at the Hellenic Club. We did book a table but when we arrived we were the only two eating at 7pm. The whole restaurant was empty so we were looked after very well!A little too much red/ purple (Spanish) onion in all of the dishes for me but I found the food more comforting than anything. The Greek Riesling on the menu was definitely a winner for me and the squid/ calamari as an entree was fantastic. The fact that it was so quiet was probably a bit of a let down, either it's not a favourite place for people to go to but as a restaurant I was expecting a bit more with how the food was all served and plated up.
As long term members of the Hellenic Club Woden, we were eager to try this restaurant by Yiannis Baxevanis, "The Greek Magican of aromatic herbs". So underwhelmed and disappointed. Firstly we were served inedible burnt pita bread, which we piled burnt side up for the waiter to see, he chose to ignore it. My lamb cutlets were over cooked and dry and accompanied by a spoon of yogurt dip and four, count them, four wedges, not a herb in sight. The rest of the family also left most of their meal on their plate. The staff were totally indifferent, no smiles, no thanks for coming, no nothing. We will not be coming back and will certainly never recommend this place to anybody.
Thank you SO much to the owners and staff for such a lovely meal and experience. I went with two friends (and my baby) and everything about our lunch was wonderful. Very warm and friendly people with great advice. We had a bottle of lovely rosé and really fresh dishes, filled with flavour and love. The quality for the price was undeniable and the staff went out of their way to assist with me and the baby and made us all feel very relaxed. We will return again and again!
The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing, well air-conditioned and has easy parking. The senior waiter did all the order taking while others delivered meals. He rushed us and actually spoke over us while trying to order, certainly not interested in explaining the menu and didn't tell us there were specials (which I noticed on a small blackboard later). We ordered 5 mezee dips for 5 people to share and only one came with bread to dip. Even then it was only a 5cmx5cm paper thin piece per person, so how are we supposed to eat the 5 entrees? After requesting more bread, thinking like a normal place would bring a basket of bread for that many dips, we received another tiny piece each. Had a laugh and ate the dips off our spoons. Then the mains came out, the lamb shoulder was literally a shoulder. Just bone. No meat... This is Australia, the country of lamb, perhaps they had run out of actual food? The presentation was however very nice and fancy. This club has 3 restaurants and several bars, I'd suggest trying another if visiting.
Despite having booked a table, the four of us were seated at a large round table, making conversation near impossible. The food was good greek. Entrees were really tasty, mains ok. Service was lackluster bordering on rude. Not particularly accommodating to dietary requirements.
