Yanako - Philadelphia

The best sushi in the Manayunk area! The fish is incredibly fresh and surpasses any other nearby options.

We had a pleasant dinner at the restaurant. However, the rice in the sushi rolls was overly soft and not very enjoyable. On the other hand, the sashimi was excellent.

This restaurant is situated next to a Thai place, and I was a bit disappointed because I had made a reservation for the Japanese side but ended up being seated in the Thai section as there was no availability at Yanako. However, the food was excellent. The portion sizes were smaller than what I’ve experienced at some other places, but given the location, it seemed reasonable. I ordered the takoyaki and a sushi/sashimi platter for two. The takoyaki came with only four pieces, but they had the perfect crunch and were wonderfully soft and delicious. The seafood was very fresh, and I loved the rolls, which were packed with a generous amount of filling. That said, the sashimi portions were a bit on the small side.

Absolutely delicious! The staff is very friendly. My dad ordered the teriyaki steak, and he loved it!

I was quite disappointed with the food. The sushi we ordered was decent in flavor, but the portion sizes were smaller than usual, and the ingredients were lacking for the non-basic rolls, making them feel overpriced. The pork buns were just lukewarm, and the buns were a bit tough to chew. The only highlight was the chicken yakitori, which was delicious. On the positive side, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was nice, although it was quite loud—typical for a Friday evening, so finding a quieter spot might be challenging at that time!
