We recently used Pete's Famous Pizza for two events in our office building, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, and it truly made the events memorable.
It's no surprise that Pete's Pizza is famous—it's truly the best pizza I've ever had! We stopped by Pete’s Famous Pizza after touring the Penitentiary, and it turned out to be our favorite meal of the whole trip. We ordered a jumbo pizza, and they weren't kidding when they said it was huge! We only left behind one slice, which was probably equivalent to two or three slices of a regular pizza, haha. The staff there are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to assist you. I'd definitely return to Philadelphia just for this pizza!
One thing I appreciated was that their takeout bags proudly displayed that they use delicious Amoroso's rolls. I decided to try the Ultimate Goliath Grinder ($9.25), which includes chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, steak, bacon, pizza cheese, and pizza sauce. This grinder is a true giant and quite messy. The chicken fingers are crispy and juicy, while the mozzarella sticks are hefty, creating a gooey mix with the creamy fries, smoky bacon, and steak. The pizza sauce adds a nice touch, cutting through the richness, all encased in a crusty Amoroso's roll. Just a heads up: this is definitely not a light meal! Be prepared for a food coma afterward—there’s no way you’ll be running a marathon soon after eating this. I also tried the Cheese Steak ($6.25), which features sharp provolone and fried onions. It’s well-seasoned, with juicy steak, flavorful provolone, and a good amount of onions. The roll is the perfect vessel for all the ingredients. Overall, it’s a solid version, earning at least a B+ or A- from me, though I would have liked a bit more meat and cheese.
