For reference Figs is both BYOB and cash only. We had a variety of items which were definitely all above average with the lamb shank being the stand out. Some minor complaints include all dishes being on the watery side, and the size of my shrimp dish being small. Overall though, had a solid time.
Great Folks Work Here! The atmosphere, service and food were all spot on! Keep up the GREAT Work! I also had Desert I recommend the Brownie Yumm! and Moroccan Tea which is very refreshing. My entire party truly enjoyed this experience and all of the food we tried. We will definitely be back for dinner. Please pay them a visit you will not be disappointed!
Figs is the type of place that gives Fairmount such a wonderful atmosphere. This place is BYOB and cash only, which means they are never overly crowded and their prices are reasonable. My girlfriend and I went for a later dinner on Tuesday night and the place was about half full. We sat outside on their sidewalk seating, which I really enjoy if it's not too hot. We started with their Baked Brie in a Clay Pot with Honey and Almonds. This is probably the go to appetizer at Figs. At only $8.50, its worth trying this dish. I got the Lamb Shank Tagine with couscous and sautéed vegetables. It was VERY good the lamb pretty much falls off the bone. The whole chickpeas were a nice touch. My girlfriend got the linguine with feta, spinach and tomatoes. This was not a super adventurous dish but it was definitely prepared very well. I love that they gave her a spoon to twirl the pasta. I am very happy that this restaurant is in my neighborhood. We had a fairly large, well prepared dinner (appetizer and two entrees) in a nice atmosphere for $55 (before tip). I will definitely be back and you should too.
Made a reservation for 2 at 8pm Friday night. Told they close at 9pm although hours are different online. But it was fine, worked out for us. Also note, cash only. We came after visiting eastern state penitentiary, 8 min walk. Food was delicious. Not even spicy but still flavorful and very enjoyable. The menu looks so good it's hard to choose because you want to try out more than you can actually eat. Chicken and lamb are halal. We'd also love to come back if/when the filet mignon is halal too. Appetizers: Scallops 6/10 Eggplant lasagna with no pasta 7/10 very good and the cheese excellent but personally would like more mushrooms in it Dinner: Lamb shank 8/10 actually tastes even better than the crab entree but both were very good Crab filet 8/10 Tea also very good. For dessert we had apple cobbler with oat and ice cream, that was ok but not going to rate this restaurant for dessert. Would have liked to try the fig ice cream but it wasn't available. Total with tax 81.87 before tips One issue was that in my case my fork was a better knife than the knife. However for the person I was with they said their knife was very sharp. So maybe it's just one or a few of them. Idk if maybe I should have requested right then to change my knife. Then they'd know to separate it. But not a big deal. Anyway highly recommend to try this place out, but if covid cases going high then I'd suggest to get takeout or go when empty or get outdoor seating if one of very few is available. At the moment there's no restrictions by the state but who knows what may be coming.
I cannot say enough good things about Fig!! I have been wanting to check out this spot for a couple years but didn’t get around to it until last night. Not only is it in a cozy and picturesque part of the neighborhood, the food is immaculate. My boyfriend and I ordered the hot brie cheese as an appetizer, a Fuji apple salad, the lamb shank, and the crab stuffed filet. SO MANY FLAVORS!! The service was also wonderful and it’s BYOB. We are definitely gonna be back since there are many things on the menu we’re dying to try.
