El Rincon Mexican - Pflugerville

A favorite in Pflugerville with locals, this Tex-Mex restaurant offers a great dining experience. For lunch, seating is readily available and there is ample parking in front. We enjoyed complimentary hot chips and a light spicy salsa that was delicious. Although there was a short wait for our entrees, they were well worth it and the service was friendly. I ordered the "plato todos" which included a cheese enchilada, tamale, beef taco, and chalupa topped with a dollop of guacamole. My wife had two cheese enchiladas, a taco, and refried beans (no rice upon request). We also received complimentary hot corn tortillas. We savored every bite and found the prices to be very reasonable. Our total bill before tip was around $27, with each guest's meal priced at $9.99 and soft drinks at $2.50.

A friend recommended this restaurant to me, claiming it was the best Mexican food he had ever had outside of Canada. He is from Alaska, so I was surprised by his knowledge of Mexican cuisine. When I visited with another friend, we both agreed that the food was delicious. While there was nothing wrong with the meal, we just thought we had eaten better Mexican food elsewhere. Our server was excellent, very attentive. Good job!

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years and have always had a positive experience until recently. The last two times I dined here, the food was lacking in flavor and served cold. The queso tasted like store-bought Velveeta and the service was subpar, with delays in getting to our table, incorrect drink orders, and poor attentiveness. Despite the fact that they used to serve breakfast all day, our server informed me that I could no longer order from the breakfast menu. I am not sure what has happened to this place, but the management needs to address these issues. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, which is disappointing considering they have the best migas I have ever tasted.

If they like velveeta roaches? server was experienced and nice? the prices are decent? strawberry margarita was good? eating quickly got out? drink order was wrong, but server immediately corrected? waited a long time to get the leak? I didn't get what I ordered. ordered two enchiladas, a cheese one huh. get two cheese enchiladas? the cheese in enchiladas tasted like velveeta? Portable a/c unit in the back space where we sat could not maintain with the heat. it was barely cooler than outside on a 970 day?. more huge shurken ran over the floor and right under our table. it ran in circles under my feet that I stopped? never back!

We were in town visiting our son in Pflugerville and decided to stop in at El Rincon since he had never been there either. Every single dish was delicious! The flour tortillas were the best I've ever had. The fish tacos were grilled (my favorite) and full of flavor. My husband had the NY strip steak that came smothered in a spicy sauce and my son had the Shrimp Al La Diabla, which was grilled and also covered in a spicy sauce. Both said their dishes were outrageously good. We stopped by for breakfast a could of days later and were again impressed with the quality of the food and the fast, friendly service. Highly recommend!
