Bandidos Mexican Food - Pflugerville

A local favorite in Pflugerville, this Tex-Mex restaurant serves delicious food at great prices. We stopped by for lunch and were seated right away, with plenty of parking available out front. They served us complimentary hot chips and a slightly spicy salsa that I really enjoyed! Although we had a bit of a wait for our entrees, they were definitely worth it, and the service was friendly. I ordered the Plato Todos, which included a cheese enchilada, a tamale, a beef taco, and a chalupa topped with a generous scoop of guacamole. My wife opted for two cheese enchiladas, a taco, and roasted beans (with no rice upon request). The side of fresh corn tortillas came out hot and were complimentary as well. We savored every bite, and the prices were quite reasonable. Our total bill, before tip, was around $27—about $9.99 per person, with soft drinks priced at $2.50.

I ordered a small bowl of menudo, which I thought was a bit lacking in broth. However, with a touch of habanero salsa, it transformed into a comforting traditional dish. The meat was cooked well—tender and juicy without being overly chewy or fatty, which was a pleasant surprise. As for the pastor platter, the quality was decent, but it didn't quite meet my expectations for authentic pastor; it tasted more like longaniza. Overall, this place is good, and the prices are quite reasonable for most of the dishes.

Authentic Mexican cuisine with a special love for her salsa. Be sure to try the green salsa—it's absolutely delicious! Just a heads-up about the margaritas: have more than two, and you might find it difficult to make it home. If you're looking for an extra kick, ask her to add some jalapeño juice!
