L'escale - Peyrat-le-Château

We ate here at lunchtime 4 adults and 2 children, we all had the set menu. The all you can eat buffet starter was amazing, so much choice and it all tasted delicious. For our second course we had steak, that was cooked to perfection it just melted in your mouth. For dessert there was a good selection, crepe, ice cream, creme brulee, blueberry tart or chocolate mousse. I opted for the chocolate mousse again it was delicious. My only negatives are that it was very busy (but that is because it is so good popular) but we did feel we were waiting to be served.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat prior to the boat ride. Busy popular place with coach loads of tourists. Cold buffet good value but geared up for bulk rather than fine dining

Visited here with my boyfriend in September 2018 on the last night of a 3 night stay at Lac-de-Vassivière. After driving round the lake we spotted L’escale which was situated in a gorgeous location and we were seated outside to watch the sunset on a warm summers night. That was the nicest part of our visit. We opted for the set menu where both my boyfriend and I chose the duck main and chocolate crepe dessert. I chose for starters the terrine, whilst my boyfriend had the mixed starters buffet. When the food was served, the terrine was slightly warm and the mixed starters didn’t look too appealing, and at the time I was glad I hadn’t chosen the mixed starters. However, after the terrine I began to feel bloated. I continued with the meal as I didn’t want to ruin our last night of our stay. The duck and crepe was ok but not great, and the waitress wasn’t too friendly either. After leaving the restaurant I began to have stomach pains and cramps which carried on throughout the night. I was violently ill over the next few days which completely ruined our first holiday away together. My boyfriend was not ill so I can only assume it was the terrine that made me ill, as it was the only thing we ate differently. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Although the location is very picturesque, the overall experience was not quite as nice!

As usual very good reception, good meal with a very beautiful view of the lake. Very good time. Thank you.

Fast service, pleasant with very beautiful person but pretty high rate. you have bcp tables nique not far if need stop you if you can
