O'neill's Peterborough

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we completed the NHS track n ' trace, to be told we had to complete their own one too, which I do not see why this is required if the NHS system is being used, I suspect it 's to harvest data to sell.Our first impression was we were suprised at how loud it was, but were willing to write this off as our mistake, Irish bars are known for being a bit loud and lively, and we hadn 't done our research properly. However we were then told about the O 'neills app for order, however as we had an M&B dining out card there was no way to pay with this via the app, so we told the bar staff we needed to order through them. After waiting about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to take an order (as the government require all restaurants to provide table service currently) I ended up having to go to the bar to get a staff members attention, I would not say the place was busy, maybe 20 people in the building.We then ordered drinks and when they delivered our drinks ordered starters, the credit I will give it is our starters were very nice, the food was delicious, however a few minutes after we started to eat our starters (considering this was meant to be my partners birthday meal just the 2 of us) they put the football on at a deafening volume, completely ruining any chance of a conversation between anybody not wishing to follow the football.When we completed starters, we started looking around attempting to gain a barmaids attention, I moved the starters plates aside piled up as a sign we had finished, I even shouted to try to get their attention when they delivered drinks to a nearby table, I do not know if they were just ignoring me, the football was so loud they couldn 't hear me or they just weren 't interested as we weren 't ordering through the app, but after 20 minutes of waiting for someone to take our order, both me and my partner getting fustrated we went to the bar, paid our bill and left. At no point did the barstaff ask how our food was, or wonder why we were leaving having only had starters and no mains.Overall extremely disappointed with the service, I feel like they couldn 't be bothered with us since we weren 't ordering via the app, the website homepage certainly could 've done more to make patrons aware of loud nature of the venue. Most of all however we were disappointed the poor service kept us from having mains, the starters were delicious, and we were both really looking forward to the food.

The staff are very friendly and polite and always happy to accommodate your choice of sport on TV, always a enjoyable visit,

Popped in on Saturday for drinks and food as a group. Covid measures made us feel very comfortable even though there weren’t many tables left. Food and drink delivered promptly as ordered through the app. No problems with anything and will be visiting again soon.

Lovely atmosphere and even better staff. Especially The duty manager kyra who was willing to go above and beyond to help out customers.

Excellent food excellent staff, Kyra and Meg are very friendly we are all now muckers, they make our day every tile we come in and we really like the amount of extra chillies they put on the pepperoni pizza
