Beautiful wine selection and several tap beers, therefore the tap in the name. We went overboard with our order, but it allowed us to try a variety of foods: Crispy reels were excellent, crisp and not a bit greasy. Yum Yum Cups with Prawns, served with romaine salad, a bit scary but tasty. A must order if it is in the menu. Our selection of curry (of which there are many, so it is hard to decide) was Panang Curry with Pork Finally we had to finish the pineapples and coconut ice cream. It tasted like it was just laughing. We would have chosen a soup, hot/sour or Coconut, but there are others. The salads invite as well as the chicken salads. And of course the pad Thai is also a must. We need to take many trips to try everything. They are open for lunch 11:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. and open for dinner at 4:30 p.m. Pongo 's is a 6-time winner of the Petaluma People's choice Awards and it's easy to see why. Carola
We ordered three things and all were exceptionally bad. The pas see ew had the wrong type of noodles, they were almost like linguine pasta as opposed to flat rice noodles. The pumpkin curry was way too spicy and really not flavorful. The fried spring rolls were fine, just dripping with grease and oil.
Had the Pad C Ew a couple of days ago. It is one of my favorites. We have eaten there before, several times. The beef was like beef jerkey. Horribly tough and dry. There was little flavor on the noodles. Overall just a meal that was not worth eating. Threw most of it out. Maybe a new cook? Will try other places next time.
Great local spot with awesome food and warm service
This is definitely a Thai Western fusion sort of restaurant, which is not really what I prefer, hence the three star rating, but if that's what you're going for you might rate it higher. The menu had some fun history about the family that owns the restaurant and the staff were friendly and cheerful. It had a bit of a sports bar sort of feel to it, big TVs and all that. They have a big menu with both Thai and western dishes. The Thai food that I tried wasn't bad, but was very much westernized. Lots of sugar. If you prefer a more muted Thai food experience you might really like that, but if you want something that reminds you of that time you lived in Thailand (what I was going for) you might be disappointed. I wouldn't mind giving these guys a second chance, I feel bad giving them 3 stars and maybe I'll update it after a curry.
