The River - Peso Da Regua

Just ok compared to other restaurants we’ve dined at in Portugal. Service was sketchy. Except for the wine guy; he was great.

Very disappointing. Too many staff that were not managed hence chaotic. Going from table to table to bar and up and down 5e stairs but not seemingly achieving anything other than keeping away from attending to tables……. We had to ask 3 times for salt before reminded and it eventually arrived! We were attended by 5 people but within half an hour still had not placed an order nor received drinks. Each staff member passed to another and using I pad devices or microphones to talk to one another but got nowhere!, As for the wine menu on an iPad with just names and prices, no description or picture it was simply ridiculous. This was our first night in the Douro Valley and we wanted to know about the wines we had hoped to try. The food menu which was not terrible long to start but had at least 5/6 dishes not available so very limited choice. This is so so poor for such a restaurant. Having explored other restaurants along the same road since, there are many better places to enjoy a nice meal!

This beautiful restaurant, in a renovated warehouse, is tranquil, informally comfortable and very well served by the young earnest staff. Good food, local wines listed, good value.

Lovely modern restaurant upstairs in a renovated warehouse, but you can 't see any river. Prepared a lovely salad, enjoyed cured sardines and mushroom risotto.

The atmosphere and the wait staff were great. The food was not good at all. Fish which should be light and flakey was tough and chewy and pricey for what was served. Would not go back or ever recommend this restaurant!
