I phoned the restaurant before and asked if they still served Sukiyaki and was assured they did. I was so embarrassed when it arrived devoid of many of the authentic ingredients as I had "talked up" this delicious Japanese meal to my guest. When I asked about the lack of the essential Shiitake mushrooms, and cellophane rice noodles, I was informed they didn't have any. What remained was large chunks of basic cabbage, white stalks and all, carrots, onion, tofu and zucchini with a mound of sliced beef. Must admit I've never had zucchini in this dish before. In the past the all the ingredients have been attractively arranged on a platter. This time however a large pot arrived with the most basic of ingredients boiling away and the remainder heaped on a dinner size plate. The staff wandered past regularly never stopping to attend to the boiling pot. When I asked for the traditional raw egg accompaniment, we were given 4 small plates each with a yolk only. Then when we paid for this very ordinary "version" of sukiyaki we were charged an extra $4 for the eggs on top of the $29.50 each.I don't complain often, however, I need to share my total disappointment as I had fully expected to enjoy this tasty traditional Japanese meal. I wont be returning and will endeavour to find another Japanese restaurant serving this delicious experience.
Unusual location in a basement but food was great and very traditional decor. All in all a good experience highly recommend
Staff is friendly But... just it. It is not japanese food. I think the cooks don't understand how to make japanese food. All foods are expensive, and poor quality. I feel I never go here.
When I am in Perth I quite often lunch at Seizan and it is always excellent. The food is always very tasty, the service is friendly, fast, & efficient. To top it all off it is excellent value - all in all one of the...More
This place has the normal dining tables, the teppanyaki seating as well as the traditional Japanese seating that you have to climb in to get your feet in, a bit inappropriate if wearing a skirt/dress on the shorter side. No removal of shoes required though. The food was average. Servings on the smaller side and price on the higher side relatively speaking.
