You choose what type you would like (I.e burrito, taco, quesadilla) and then your fillings and it is made in front of you. If toasting is required this is done while you wait. I had a quesadilla with chicken. It was not too bad a little dry and lacked a bit of taste. I did order some toppings on the side. The pico and guacamole were ok but the sour cream was like sauce and quite runny, I prefer mine thick.Overall it was ok for a quick lunch while at work and fairly reasonably priced though the people taking orders could have been a little nicer. The do both sit down and takeway and are licensed so do sell alcohol.
Poor food. burritos are full of rice and beans. Flavour of the meat is nothing like any Mexican food that I grew up on (yes I grew up eating Mexican food every day). The cheese is completely wrong and nasty. I struggle to understand why no one has opened a real Mexican food place in Perth. They would make heaps of money because everything else is terrible including Mad Max.
Had to go into Subiaco WA to purchase some tickets for a show around 12 noon and just wanted a quick lunch . Walking down Hay st smelt something great , it was Mad Mex . We went in and was greeted with there friendly staff and grabed a chicken burrito and a chicken salad for my wife . Very fresh and tasty , great size meals and cold Corona's .
Being from Southern California, it is always a scary proposition to try Mexican food in foreign countries, since we know what authentic Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Saw Mad Mex in Perth, Australia, and tried it out. Very surprised that the food was fresh, authentic and tasty. Speaking with the manager, found out the founder of the chain is from San Diego, California (or somewhere close by) which explains the food quality. Mexican food is sure to catch on in Australia with Mad Mex leading the way. Two things they could work on: (1) learn to speak a little Spanish, and (2) add fish tacos to the menu. Otherwise, it was a delightful eating experience so far from home.
I'm a big fan of Mad Mex in Baldivis. The staff here are always friendly, helpful and efficient. Mad Mex have got you covered if you're looking for fast food that is healthy and fresh. It ticks all the boxes: fast, fresh and tasty!
