We visited in April 2016 as a family of four. Firstly they did not have the wine that we wanted but they were happy for us to wander down to the Bottle-O down the road to buy some wine without charging corkage. We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was poor. The food was okay, not up to previous standard. To top the night off we were told the coffee machine was broken. Somehow I think this was to get rid of us.We have been here many times in the past but would not visit again.
Gogo's has had certain promotion by Tendulkar visiting his restaurant, but that was a long time ago and the food has deteriorated beyong belief from those days. We ordered takeaway tandoori chicken, naan and Goan fish curry this evening. Such a dis appointment when the food arrived. I ordered the tandoori as a main for $19.50 and received the smallest main portion ever of this dish, with two tiny chicken drumsticks that must have been taken from wings of the bird.It had no flavour of the tandoori spices and I felt that it hadn't been marinated for an hour least of all the recommended 24-48 hours. The chicken was placed in a plastic container with half of it covered in maybe coriander sauce and the other half in some sickly sweet sauce - no lemon, no raw onions or salad as is usual with our usual expectations of tandoori. The so-called coriander sauce which should contain lots of mint, had none in at all, no aroma and no taste. Talk about bland! Now to the naan, I have eaten naan in many countries in the world including India and this naan has to be the most unappetising tasteless bread anyone could imagine. It looked the real deal at first but once tasted it resembled cardboard and almost immediately dried out and flaked all over the table. The only barely edible taste was the Goan fish, but again such a small portion for $17.50 and the heavy spices covered up for a limited dish. I only awarded this place one star for actually producing food, none for anything else.We usually order from MELA in Northbridge and the food is outstanding, ditto the naan so do yourself a favour and go a little farther for a really satisfying authentic Indian meal!!
When I visited back in 2011, I went back to the uk and wanted a gogos curry. On returning this year it was the first place we went......and suprisingly the food went down a treat! Couldn't fault the service, portion size or quality of the food. Superb!!!!
Never liked Go Go Naan Bread. So we will see if it has changed.Go Go is a colorful and interesting person and the Restaurant is surrounded by Cricket memorabilia. Go Go love of Cricket. However, when I go out to a Restaurant I want to relax and have a good time with a special person in a comfortable environment. And when I want to go out with a big group of friends I want to have friendly service and my meals served on time and I would like to have options of having Gluten free as many of my friends cant eat meals with gluten. And the Naan bread has gluten. So the Indians haven't yet thought of yet is what do people eat that have dietary problems. What i find is their is way too much salt in Indian food. Totally not necessary.I haven't been there for a long time so maybe it time for some friends and I to visit. I believe they are getting new Chefs coming in. So we will see.I wish some of the comments were not racially derived on this page. I find some very insulting about westerners. Some are assumption. There are people living in Perth from all over the word and have past inheritance to Indian and Asian culture. And some that are better at cooking Indian food than Indians and Asians. So it not because you come from India. I was brought up with Indians and lived with them. And I can cook as good as any of them. And it less oily. One thing I find is that Indian food here in restaurants are cooked with horrible oil like cotton oil and palm oil. Yuk. I only cook with the best products and oil. Cheating on poor quality ingredients and making it more saucy and being stingy on the key ingredients does not make good food. The flavor and quality of the food is only as good as the chef and the management and a chef and cook working in a happy harmonious work environment
