My fiancee and I were staying at the Crieff Hyrdo and had our evening meal at the Meikle Restaurant. I was blown away not only by the food but the level of service too. We had the fish cake starter; genuinely one of the nicest starters I've ever eaten. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and the service was fast but did not seem rushed. I cannot wait to go back.
We had a meal in the meikle during our stay in crieff hydro. it was a very mixed experience that eating was actually quite good, but with only two vegetarian main courses on the menu, and both of them pasta, we were very limited in our choice. so it was a covering between pasta arabiatta that I could throw myself together in minutes, or ravioli mushrooms. we went for the ravioli. then we got our meal, 5 small pieces of ravioli drown in a creamy sauce, but even then hardly covered the bottom of our plate. what a sweat. at almost £15 it was not close to satisfying our appetit, it felt like a beginning part. as a result we cancelled our meal for the second night of our stay and instead go to the city center. service was very hit and miss either too many interruptions while we ate or no one else wait for the guide, long wait for request of drinks, dessert menu and finally disappoint our bill.
Pure chaos we had not ignored less than 4 different people who wanted to visit us at different times after we ate, until someone had knocked down first, ordered our food, drinks and water. water never came. brot that we were told that we were sitting, came at the end of the starter. eating was meh, (have prawn and suppenstarter, steak and risotto suppe was best) and we drank and ate with other people. because my wife is pregnant, we wanted to check drinks (certain that she had no alcohol) and they had no idea what was the last thing we wanted after a day of travel. a daisy, place has a decent view from the window.
Lovely setting overlooking the beautiful Perthshire countryside. We had the 3 course set menu. Absolutely stuck for choice. Each course was delicious. Our server Rose was very helpful in making our menu choices.
