Balvaird - Perth Kinross

I arrived at 8:45 PM on a Thursday, only to learn that the kitchen had closed at 8:00 PM. The restaurant may be fantastic, but unfortunately, I'll never get the chance to find out.

After driving past the Bein Inn several times, we finally decided to make a reservation at the restaurant. We were given the option to dine in the main restaurant or the lounge bar, and we chose the restaurant. Upon entering the Bein Inn, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist. Despite wanting to cozy up by the fire, our hunger led us to our table. We chose a window seat, which also happened to be near a radiator, keeping us nice and warm. The menu was filled with hearty, homely dishes that were just what we were craving. The portions were generous, as the waitress had warned us when we considered ordering a side dish. Taking her advice was a good call, as every dish from the chicken liver pate to the slow roasted lamb shank brought a smile to our faces. The wine list was surprisingly diverse, with options that complemented the food and catered to various tastes. The service was excellent, with the waitress and owner being friendly and accommodating. After our meal, we moved to the lounge bar with the remaining wine and enjoyed our after-dinner coffees at our leisure. The staff seamlessly accommodated our change of seating. The bill was fair and reflected the value of the hearty meal and exceptional service. We were tempted to book a room and stay for the evening!

We initially intended to have Sunday lunch in Perth, but on our way, we happened upon the Bein Inn and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a fantastic choice! We ordered the Sunday roast, which was very reasonably priced at £12. The quality of the food was outstanding, with the roast beef and all the accompanying trimmings meeting our expectations. Everything was cooked to perfection, from the vegetables to the medium-rare beef. My son chose the venison burger with hand-cut chips, which was also excellent. I highly recommend this place for Sunday lunch, and we will definitely be coming back, as it's the best option in the area!

This time, we decided to eat in the restaurant instead of the bar, and not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere was delightful as well. The staff were cheerful and went above and beyond to make our night special. After dinner, we relaxed by the open fire while enjoying the entertainment. Thanks once again to all the staff for providing us with a wonderful evening and a fantastic meal; we will definitely be back soon. If you haven’t been yet, you should definitely check it out—you won’t be disappointed!

Having driven from Inverness we often pass this hotel, last time we ate here it was disappointing so second time lucky no ! Ordered cod got haddock and that was disappointing and as for the accompanying tartare sauce inedible.Staff did offer to replace it but it looked OK wrong move. My wife had the steak pie mediocre sorry but it will be a while before we try again/
