When my husband and I are in Perth, we typically enjoy having lunch at O'Reilly's. However, yesterday the pub was crowded so we opted to try East Meets West instead.
This evening my daughter and I had the pleasure of dining at East Meets West in Perth. They have seating inside and out. Since there were many people outside we opted for a table for two inside by the front window. We were promptly greeted...More
Where do I begin? We had been traveling all day, and stopped in Perth for a bite to eat. We wanted something better than pub food. Most pub food has some much grease that John Travolta is in it. There is a Mexican restaurant with picturesque seating by the canal, but we didn't want the food to remind us the next day that we ate it. We walked past a German restaurant, but the food is heavy, and an hour later you are hungry for power. We checked out the menu of a wine cellar place, and didn't feel like paying over $40 for a piece of a local cow that ate just grass had a massage every day. And then we came upon East Meets West. The menu is fabulous. The prices are perfect. The tastes are authentic. The dishes fill the stomach and satisfy the soul. The chef, named Ram actually wore a chef jacket. That says something in itself about his education in the culinary arts. From talking to the superb waiter (who was ethnically at Trinidadian transplanted to Canada), we learned that the chef trained in French and Italian cuisine but was from Sri Lanka. His food was out of this world. The wait is staff is terrific and knowledgeable. They are prompt and watchful and helpful. They know their stuff, and can explain the cuisine. We got a taste of the local beer before we ordered it.East Meets West describes their menu. They have a range of curries, Indian food, and Italian food. The curries are extremely flavorful. The naan bread is delicious. The portions are ample and filling. The chicken parmigiana is not factory chicken, and the tomato pasta sauce is fresh and made on the premises. You know from the first taste that you are eating the fruits of a chef with serious cooking skills. The range of the menu is fabulous. The wings must have a choice of at least 10 sauces from a chef who uses spices like a composer and conductor select instruments and notes from a symphony orchestra. My partner has multiple food restrictions including gluten-free and you can get gluten-free pasta with the dishes. Fabulous. You can also get great vegetarian dishes. They are most accommodating with the food permutations and combinations. There is nothing more to say. This is THE place to eat in Perth. Not only is it East Meets West, but it is also FLAVOR MEETS FOOD YOU KNOW and GREAT FOOD MEETS LOW PRICES. If you have never been, you gotta go (again).
We were a little hesitant at first as my wife has some food allergies. But a quick chat with Chef Ram and he made a special meal she could eat, and I ordered the butter chicken after reading some of the other review. Neither meal disappointed, we were both delighted with our meals. Could not recommend any more highly, East meets West is now on our list of must eat restaurants!
