My friend and I only had about an hour and wanted to go somewhere near, so we were on urban spoon for a restaurant near where we were. I'm so glad we made it! I am an Italian and an amazing cook myself and am extremely picky when it comes to an Italian restaurant. I'm also a former restaurant owner and I've been in business for years, so of course I'm a critic. I usually don't write reviews, but I was so impressed that I had to write one for this hidden gem I just discovered! The restaurant itself was nothing fun and would remind you of any local pizza shop. I must say it was very clean and well maintained. The food was from this world! I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. It was amazing... the spaghetti was actually homemade and the sauce was perfect! When looking over the menu it was hard to choose because everything looked so good. There were several dishes that had different types of homemade pasta. I know that I made it myself at home for my family, how time-consuming it is to make it, so I was really impressed to see it on the menu. My friends' court was also amazing. Homemade Cavatelli with a creamy pesto sauce with huge Jumbo shrimps. The portions were also perfect. I'm not a big eater so I liked it a selection of small or large sizes for most of the ducks. You couldn't beat the prices... I didn't see anything in the $11 menu. Absolutely amazing! I'll make a trip back soon!
A family lover for decades. After living in the area for a large part of my life, I would return to my duties if I did not mention this picturesque Penn Hills restaurant. My family has enjoyed many meals from this facility since the 1970s. I, myself, was never in a better family home, small restaurant in this immediate area. When entering, the decor is Spartan to be safe... but it is extremely clean, well maintained, efficient and beautiful accented with photos and image printing. It is very the No-Frills what you see is what you get typical Italian restaurant. The business and reputation of the family is in the food, not in the ambience. The food is extremely fresh and well prepared. My personal favorites are the Pasta e fagiole soup, the chickens Tortellini soup, the sown salad, which is best with their own Italian dressing, and the Rigatoni with meatballs. I have always left this place happy and not disappointed. The sauce, like everyone who dinates Italian, is what can make or break the food. At Pasqualino the tomato sauce is a star! Fresh, bright and herby is the best way to categorize the pasta dressing. The restaurant even offers glasses of sauce for males who want to buy some for their own cooking. attentive and friendly staff have always occupied this place. They are real people who care about what they do and how they present. The owner could easily be your prototypical, loving nonno. He asks every customer how he or she does and conversations with his customers when he has a little free time. Hands down, this place offers the best tomato sauce in the immediate vicinity. Great food, quite decent price and high quality service. This restaurant is a rare resort to Penn Hills' eating situation.
A Penn Hills Gem. I've been eating here for years. My family and my husband's family are all Italians, so we are picky about our Italian. Pasqualino's, or Pizza Palace, as it is known to locals, is great Italian cuisine. I didn't eat anything I didn't love here. Even the chicken fingers I got for my child were delicious and hand-baked. The crab cake medusa is delicious large, thick pieces of crab meat on homemade spinach linguine with a light Alfredo sauce. Their soups are also fantastic, like the homemade chocolate chip cookies. But the star of her show is her filled bowls. I have never eaten a better filled bowl in my life, not even my own homemade bowls are so good. The cheese is dense and strict and simply perfect. The spinach filled bowls are even more delicious than the original. Her marinara sauce is perfectly greasy tomato flavor and not excessively seasoned. A small dinner includes two bowls, a large role, a huge meat ball and a container of Locatelli Parmesean cheese. The only things that don't impress me are the meat balls. They do not taste as authentic and delicious as the other offers, but they are still good. I'm very picky about meatballs. I haven't eaten the pizza for years, but I don't remember it being excellent. But my husband loves it.
A high school football game brought some friends BLT, LMF, JAS, and LRF and I together on a crunchy autumn evening; So we landed at Pasqualino 's Italian restaurant 13032 Frankstown Road, 15235. We came hungry and eager to visit each other, we tried a little of everything while we were in robust conversation, and we left filled, satisfied, and almost ready for the cool evening temperatures. Pasqualino 's is in the heart of Penn Hills*; this establishment radiates the heart in the form of its family and traditional menu and its red sauce. Like any Italian red sauce, Pasqualino's version is a personal experience, with a rich history dating back to 1954, when Maria Pasqualino the Pomodoro mixture not long after coming to the United States from Italy. Free warm rolls with butter or as I call it, Still Life Carbs with Fat Pollo Pesto Specialty Pizza $7.95 for a 4-pack pesto, grilled chicken, provolone, Arugula Chicken Parmigiana over Ri
Great family owned restaurant. Always top notch service. Employees are all very pleasant and helpful. Food is phenomenal. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a quality Italian restaurant.
