Steak 'n Shake - Pekin

Steak n Shake was my favorite diner growing up. Now everything has changed. No more personal interactions. Everything is on a kiosk. When your food is delivered the server seems like they forgot how to serve by forgetting or not reading the whole order. I ordered the Frisco Melt combo. The sandwich was good. The fries were cold and not cooked fully. I also ordered a Nutella milkshake, it was a chocolate shake with a little Nutella on top. Won't be going back to the Pekin, IL location.

Steak Shake, at least in Pekin, has become very impersonal. You order strictly by kiosk. No waitresses. You pay at the kiosk. No cashier. They have successfully removed lots of human interaction here. This will be my last visit to this chain, and it has become a cold and dungeon like feel to it. I used to look forward to coming here. Now, I look forward to avoiding it.

Lobby, tables, counters and booths were all clean. No sticky floors!! Food came out quick and correct. Extra condiments, cheese, and straws in a neatly stapled to-go bag, all without asking.

I lived in south TX for 20 yrs and missed Steak ‘n Shake alot!!!! But I hate that everything is automated anymore. Kiosks no cust service to me! And the food is super greasy!!! More than I ever remember. But I still love a good steak burger once in a while.

The kiosks are a DISASTER.Thank goodness for Aston !!! she was SO helpful!!Girl you ROCK!!
