Larry Levine's Kosher Meats And Deli

The restaurant offers an excellent variety of kosher dishes. However, the customer service could be more welcoming.

I really enjoy their pastrami sandwiches, knishes, and bow tie cookies (kichelach). They also have a small selection of frozen and refrigerated foods, featuring some hard-to-find smoked fish like sable and whitefish. Please note that they only accept cash or Venmo.

Great deli with a very friendly staff. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich, and it was delicious. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area!

I recently dined at Larry Levines, the only kosher takeout restaurant in the area, and my experience was unforgettable – though not for the right reasons. It was akin to biting into a matzo ball only to discover it was made from a mix. In fact, it actually was! Their website claims to offer high-quality meats, so I was taken aback to learn that their menu primarily features pre-packaged kosher items rebranded as their own. It felt like a culinary magic trick: one moment, you see it; the next, it’s on your plate presented as a “gourmet” dish! I couldn’t help but laugh at the audacity of it all. At least they have a sense of humor, albeit unintentional. But seriously, when you're the only kosher option in town, shouldn't you strive to deliver your best? I could give them credit for convenience, but I have to take two thumbs down for not making their food from scratch. It seems they took the essence of kosher dining and sprinted straight for the pre-packaged food aisle. It’s disappointing that Larry Levines fails to deliver on the promise of fresh, high-quality kosher cuisine. I attempted to call and ask about my dietary restrictions related to the large catering order I had placed (due to allergies), but their dismissive attitude left me frustrated and compelled to voice my concerns here. It's one thing to serve pre-packaged food, but it’s another to be indifferent about it. Apparently, their customer service is as pre-packaged as their offerings! So, if you’re searching for a kosher dining experience that might have you laughing (and perhaps crying) over your reheated meal, Larry Levines might be the place for you. Just a word of caution: if something appears too good to be true, it’s likely from a mix – and served with a side of indifference.

I would rate this place three stars, which feels a bit generous, but it's the holiday season. I used to think Todd was just unfriendly towards me, but I've come to see that he's grumpy with everyone. I really don't understand that mentality—if you don't enjoy interacting with people, maybe this isn't the right business for you. Also, I can't wrap my head around the fact that they don't accept credit cards. I'm not about to download an app just because of that!
