Restaurant Chez Pierre - Pau

We have eaten in the restaurant on several occasions, both lunch and dinner and every time the food was excellent, well balanced wine list and definitely very good price to quality ratio. Every week day they offer fresh market menu (combinations available for app-plate or plate-dessert for €13.50; app-plate-dessert €16.50; or just main plate for €10.50). Menu is posted daily both on the website and Facebook page, so you can check it out before going. Regular menu is changing every month offering different seasonal foods (menu prices are €25 or €30). Fabrice, the owner, speaks very good English, so foreign guests can be easily accommodated. The restaurant has a number of small private dining rooms, which are great for a family occasion or a business meeting. There is seating outside, as well as a cosy bar for an evening aperitif. Overall, it is one of the very few places in the immediate area for fine dining!

Food very nice. Staff attentive. Went on Groupon offer so price was excellent for us, full price the menu is not cheap 39 or 55 euros. Good half bottle wine selection at half full bottle price which is rare. As it is small, it does tend to lack atmosphere

We had lunch here recently and both the food and service was excellent . We had our grandchildren with us and the waiter and waitress had their names in seconds - very child friendly - and the childrens menu provided for the four year old was much more than the usual fare. We had the lunch three course menu and found the food really tasty and well prepared - and alittle different . The value was also very good . Will definately go there again.

We visited Chez Pierre's for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is friendly but also quite intimate. There's also a bar which is worth a visit. It feels like a place that local people frequent, and that adds to the appeal. The menu for both lunch and dinner was interesting and good value.

I hate to give Chez Pierre only three stars. The food deserves at least four stars. It was exquisite. When I walked into Chez Pierre I immediately got the feeling I was in a retirement home restaurant. The colors, the decor, the smell all seemed to indicate a past era eatery that kept its look to cater to an 80 yr old crowd that might get upset if anything in their favorite restaurant changed from 1972. The problem is... none of those guests were there. In fact, other than a young couple, the restaurant was empty at 8 PM on a Saturday night. One of the people in my party surmised that all of their frequent customers had passed on....In any case we were a party of 3 adults. The only person we saw and who greeted us, served us all evening just didn't seem to want to be there. He wasn't unfriendly and the service was efficient but lacked warmth. And for some really strange reason he sat us smack dab next to the young couple. I mean if we were seated any closer we would have been in their laps. With the rest of the restaurant totally empty (and it stayed that way) all night, this was simply odd.The food was truly remarkable though. All three in my party are foodies and we each enjoyed everything that was on our plate. The food was innovative and perfectly prepared. I had the scallops (coquilles st. Jacques) which were amazing. I followed with a fish prepared meunière style which was really good. The desserts were equally good.I really wish Chez Pierre would work on improving the ambience. Candles on the tables, new decor.. But if you don't care about those things and want some great bistro food then Chez Pierre should be on your list of Pau restaurants to try.
