Long story short, the Rockaway River Barn used to serve this delicious dish but has since changed drastically and fallen from grace. I ordered a pizza from here a week ago and it was excellent. As soon as I saw the Chicken Scarola on the menu tonight I knew what I had to do.. I requested that they throw some of their homemade sausage on top of the Scarola to see if it could scratch my itch for Scarpariello and, Voila! I could cry from the explosion of flavor and massive portion of food the Reservoir Tavern gifted me on this night. I'm in the process of transitioning at this time to a non scapariello orientation of a cherry pepper infused italian entree and I have an important declaration: Eat at the Reservoir. Huge portions, lots options (try the homemade italian sausage) and won't break the bank. Go here, you won't regret.
Amazing pizza and seafood , definitely will be back.shh I almost forgot about the amazing meatballs
I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time due to the glowing reviews about their pizza. We came for lunch during the week, and it wasn't too busy. I had a cocktail that I found quite good and some meatballs that were excellent. However, the pizza was a letdown. I ordered Nick's special, but the crust was so thin and soggy that I had to eat it with a knife and fork, which was far from ideal. Despite this, the restaurant itself is very pleasant and clean, and the service was good with fair prices. I plan to give it another shot, perhaps with a plain pie next time, and hopefully, I can give a better rating. I'd suggest they try their own Nick's special to see what could be improved.
If you’re not a regular customer and part of the click, then don’t bother going. You will wait a long time and then you’re still not treated properly!
Pizza is really good, a little greasy but the crust more than makes up for that.
