Old Mirror Lodge Restaurant

This place was a must visit when boating on the Pickerel River system or visiting the Port Loring area. Unfortunately the owners sold and it is no longer functioning as a restaurant. The new owner is using it as​ a private lodge and with this great location will enjoy it in the coming years.

A trip to Northern Ontario wouldn't be complete without one evening dinner out at this tranquil spot.

Old Mirror Lodge is a wonderful, water-access only restaurant with cabins to rent on the Pickerel River, Ontario Canada. Hubby and I try to make a trip there every summer for the past 10 years to visit Urs and Vereena who are the owners/operators. They live in Switzerland and own this spot of paradise in Canada where they return every May - October to run the business. Urs does the cooking and Vereena waits the tables and keep the cottages in order. Being water-access only, we take a leisurely, 30 min. boat ride from Duck Lake down the Pickerel River to the restaurant where we eat a deliciously prepared dinner out on the deck, surrounded by beautiful flowers. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we can dine inside in their beautifully appointed dining room. You just can't get better ambiance. If you don't have a boat, no problem! Urs will come collect you from the parking lot off of Rte. 522. Just follow the signs from 522 to the parking lot and call Urs from the phone provided.Check out their website for more information. I attended this restaurant recently and was very please with absolutely everything. I was kindly greeted upon arrival and seated quickly. Our server was very polite and helpful. Food was served in the appropriate amount of time and presented beautifully. I ordered the New York strip steak, which came with steamed veg and a baked potato, and apple strudel for dessert. Excellent! The view was an added bonus. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

We first experienced the Old Mirror Lodge last fall just before they closed for the 2011 season. There was 6 couples at that time and I can speak on their behalf….we all enjoyed the meals and hospitality of Verena
