Decent & reasonable It was quite busy on a Saturday night so be sure to make a reservation. The food was decent, I had the lobster & prawn Mac & cheese -
I had the salmon and shrimp pie and really enjoyed it. Best part is children eat free.
The restaurant for the top resort in Parksville, Tigh Na Mara, is Cedars. I know the cabins here are very expensive in a resort area not known for pricey accommodations. So I guessed that their signature resto Cedars must be topnotch too.The decor is striking. Basically built like a hunting lodge with cedar log framework and warm colors. The menu had unusual offerings. I had the beef hash which came out not what I expected. Like many dish items in BC, the American counterparts are not the same. My wife liked her banana bread "French toast" with bananas. I liked it too. The coffee is really good and kept coming by the service crew.It wasn't inexpensive. For our two entrees and coffee, it was a total of $40 CDN, but the satisfaction was priceless.
The Cedars is not on my favourite list anymore. What a letdown. Daily Cocktail made differently depending on who made it. Happy hour needs to be part of the day not just a shift change for the staff. The $10 Strawberry Mojito was great for the first one and then became just mediocre. Was told by the server that the bartender had made a regular mojito first then added the strawberries after. Nice heads up! For our 730 dinner reservation we were seated under an air vent and a window with a blazing setting sun. Felt like one was going through the change of life while dining. Was informed that 2 of our menu choices with roast chicken were not available. My wife ordered the Halibut and I the Cobb Salad with seared scallops. What a disappointment. Too many things not good about the dishes to go on about. The waiter rambled on about how busy it was and I'll see if the chef can make us more. We declined and just picked at the meal. Well let’s have dessert. Reply, the kitchen torch is out of propane so I cannot bring your crème brulee. Has the kitchen not got a broiler? To say the least our stay at the Tigh-Na Mara Resort was a big letdown. Staffing sure seems to be a problem, but at our expense!
