Lots of choice on menus, 3 adult meals and three beers came to $75 including tax and tip so no problem with prices. It is dissapointing that the good food and service is not backed up with improved caretaking, the restrooms are filthy and the whole place could use a deep cleaning.
If I could rate 1-10 for this very Traditional southern style BBQ house, I'd say service was a 10, food was an honest 7.5, and ambiance was a 10 for authenticity.Fried Chicken was Kentucky style, a bit too crispy but still very good. Ribs were tasty but not quite smokey enough. Mac and cheese was so-so. Corn bread was wonderful. For our table of 10, the Place was packed, but Our food came out very quick which was awesome. Server was outstanding. Tap Beer was tasty. We'll be back on our next Kayak trip for sure. Thx
Been here a couple of times and the meat and sauce is great. The side however are just okay. The corn was room temp although good, the smashed potatoes were not hot and the mac and cheese was not hot or very creamy at all. I like my food hot and at least have the effort to put it in an over to heat up. Service was good.
My husband and I are not big fans of BBQ. But when we heard they had killer fried chicken, we thought we would give it a try. There aren't too many restaurants, other than the usual chains, that serve fried chicken. The restaurant is not very appealing from the outside, but our experience tells us to never judge a book by the cover. The inside had the feel of a small roadhouse which was fun, however it could use a good cleaning. Our server was friendly, but service was slow. I don't think it was his fault, as it seems there weren't enough servers for the steady stream of customers. We both chose the stew as a side an it came as an appetizer. Big, bold, beefy, delicious!!! We had also ordered the onion tanglers. They were fantastic! We hoped the breading on the fried chicken was going to be like the breading on the tanglers, and we were not disappointed. The fried chicken was some of the best we had ever had. The breading was light, and crispy and flavourful. The chicken was meaty and moist. We see from the menu that you can order "just chicken" for take-out and the next time we don't mind driving for over an hour (about 40 minutes one way from south end of Kitchener) we will definitely order the fried chicken for take-out!!The BBQ items, burgers, and natchos that we saw being delivered also looked and smelled delicious!! However, we will stick to the fried chicken.
The food was very good and the beer cold. The only issue we had at all was in the area of service. It was a little slow on the patio but in all fairness we were being served by a new employee that was a little wet behind the ears. Aside from that we all left, bursting at the seams and in need of a nap. I recommend this little BBQ restaurant to anyone looking for smoked deliciousness.
