Above average, but not exceptional. This restaurant is certainly a step above the great majority of Italian restaurants in the Coachella Valley and it is a welcome supplement. But it could use improvements. For example, as I was fed in August, I considered the tomatoes and mozzarella as the first course. I asked the waiter about tomatoes and cheese, he said the tomatoes were excellent, but struck a mozzarella from another antipasti selection. He was right, the mozzarella was fresh and creamy as it should be, but the tomatoes were disappointing. In August there must be better tomatoes in California! As a second course, I had her special, a veal with a straight spinach and roasted potatoes. The calf skirt with huge and although good, lacked any real excitement. They also lacked excitement with spinach and potatoes. On the positive side, the staff was unusually attentive, friendly and had a good attitude, very important in a pricier restaurant. For the two of us with a moderate price of wine and tip, but without dessert or coffee, the bill came to $158.
