Al Houda is exactly the type of restaurant that fuels my passion for exploring unique dining experiences—those special places where incredible food makes you say, "WOW!" And Al Houda has it all. I should mention that my father's family emigrated from Syria at the turn of the last century, giving me years of delightful exposure to authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. Many Middle Eastern restaurants today have Americanized their dishes, making it rare to find those genuine recipes that are hard to come by. So, it was both a pleasure and a stroke of luck to find Al Houda's kitchen. That said, not everything is perfect at Al Houda. The restaurant has a very small dining area with limited seating, which can be a bit cramped. I also learned that they primarily cater to the Florida Tech Arab community, which means their operating hours are significantly reduced during the summer months. The woman who greets you—who I suspect is the owner—has a limited grasp of English, to put it mildly. If you’re eager to try this amazing fare, be prepared to either order what I did or to show the staff pictures, as the menu offers only basic English descriptions for each item (see menu photos). The servers may not be able to convey the culinary wonders you might expect. Additionally, they only serve bottled beverages. I chose an Aryan (pronounced "R-yawn"), a Middle Eastern yogurt drink similar to buttermilk. It was quite enjoyable, with a pleasantly tangy finish that I found addictive. For my main course, I ordered lamb kafta with baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was homemade, with a freshness you rarely find from distributors. While I suspect the kafta might not have been made from scratch with fresh ingredients, it was still a high-quality dish—definitely better than others I've encountered locally. The highlight of my meal was the Molokhia, a chicken dish made with a green leaf. The chicken was so tender and juicy that one might think they had used a whole bird! As I often remind my readers, I'm not a chef, but I know enough about food to recognize quality execution and presentation. While I may not always identify specific ingredients, I do know that the greens used in this dish are known as jute. As for the chicken, I can confidently say it was one of the most exquisite flavors I’ve ever experienced. This dish is so rich and delightful that you won't want to stop eating it. The Big Boy (that’s me!) encourages you to try Al Houda. Whether you are a seasoned veteran of Middle Eastern cuisine or completely new to it, I promise you will not be disappointed!
The vegetarian plate is outstanding. The grape leaves and falafel rank among the best I've ever had. It also includes baba ganoush, which I absolutely adore. The service is friendly, and they offer a selection of unique bottled sodas that seem to be imported, as I've never encountered them anywhere else.
The food was delicious, and the waitress was very friendly during my first visit. I ended up ordering so much that I couldn't finish it all!
Best food ever , sooo delicious : i would highly recommend ...
Excellent food! Yes it does take time to get your food even with no wait, but totally worth it. It was nice to sit chat with my husband while looking at all the items in the grocery. Cute little shop, friendly staff. Ordered lamb dish and tandoori chicken amazing! We also tried Turkish coffee for the first time definitely recommend it if you're a coffee drinker. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza so ample parking. Small but cozy clean. Highly recommend it! Our new favorite spot
