Hotel recommended this place so we thought it would try. enjoyed the hard fish steak, but found it a bit expensive. the place is beautifully decorated
Last Saturday in the empty restaurant next to a German couple. In view of any other restaurant that we had changed past, we have already set this up early and expected that the locals have their aperitivo somewhere. doubts were confirmed by strange, tasteless food....The sardine polpette tasted vaguely fishy, but not sardine, and not fresh. they were similar to fish pastes made of a glass with brot filled. they were coated in a faded tomato sauce, more orange than red, and not tomato tasting. the primi was their homemade seafood ravioli with pistachios. layers of overcooked pastry with some small dry dishes, hidden under a gray/light green mud. it had hotspots that were scaled and other bits of the plate were lukewarm as if blasted in the microwave. the mud had a light taste of white fishbone, but not seafood. the linguine of my partner was edible, but again, no taste depth and just a few papery garnels. we didn't risk a desert. I only ate it because I was tired, hungry and I'm brittle. we went past packed restaurants to her back to the hotel and wondered what had been on the erde lonely planet and others. Despite only two other tables that arrived while we were there (also tourist) the waitress cleared me the sign when my partner was still finished her probably because she had nothing else to do, but it let us hurry. follow their ears and the sound of the natives, eat them there and ignore the guide.
We had been consumed and polluted a few days, streetfood and local restaurants. then we felt the need for something a little more demanding. this restaurant is located in the more modern part of town, but nevertheless centrally. the food was excellent, the...service quite charming and the prices quite acceptable. ask her hotel to book a table for her as they are very busy and it seems the only way to get a table is to book in advance.
We had a thoroughly pleasant dinner here. It is a handsome room in a pleasant part of the new town area, just a few minutes walking distance of Piazza Ruggiero Settimo. Service was utterly professional and cooking was to a very high standard, presenting classic...Sicilian food in a contemporary way. The wine list was spot on with a thoughtful selection of decent choices, including many quality Sicilian wines, at fair prices. The wine list doesn't say so, but when asked the manageress happily served me two fine wine choices by the glass. Portions of both food and wine were not miserly (as in some Michelin restaurants and their prices were very fair. All in all, a highly recommendable choice. Thank you, Nikita!
