El Trompicon - Palencia

Es un clásico de esta ciudad. ¿Quién no ha comido en el marrano aunque sea una vez? La verdad es que para picar un bocadillo rápido y comerlo en la calle está bien, es rico y barato, pero el olor insoportable a aceite recalentado puede ser un poco desagradable. Aunque sorprenda, la falta de higiene, nadie que conozco ha enfermado de gastroenteritis ni nada parecido. Misterios de Palencia.

Having lived in and travelled most of Spain for 17 years we had the best Calamari ever in this simple bar, the prices are so cheap we had a feast of incredible quality food, pinchos morunos, Calamari, Langostinos, crispy pork belly slices, black pudding Morcilla) lots of wine and pastis for two all for less than €8 each. Service was friendly and helpful. This place is visited by the very well heeled locals, almost their dirty little secret... and not so well heeled customers all mix well as both have an eye for a bargain meal. Having tried to look at the tapas menu at a more up market Gastropub nearby whilst having a drink the totally uninterested and miserable waitress did us a favour and we left to find a little authentic gem. Don't expect anything other than an honest simple bar with great food.

All year round you can come and enjoy great sandwiches and street cousine. This is a great place known as el guarro , which means the piggy , almost everyone comes here for an after party snack because its open all night long and until the morning, so its a great place to continue your after party!
