I'm a recurring customer. I had Thai food from probably any city or village in Sweden from as far south as Ystad, and I will recommend this about Arctic Circle Thai Restaurant, Thai Dan Sai, in Pajala. Have the Cashew chicken, pad Thai or T4 (a meal of several different smaller dishes). Enjoy!
I stumbled upon this little Thai food gem by chance, while traveling through Arctic Circle and Northern Sweden by car with my two daughters back in 2015. Pajala is a small town, with, apparently, only one hotel that requires you to call the owner to drive over and open the door for you. The owner and a few local people who were hanging around the adjacent cultural center at 9pm that night recommended Thai Dan Sai when we inquired about a local place for dinner. When we found this restaurant after walking around the town for some 15 minutes, we definitely weren 't impressed by the appearance. Dark interior, a few basic tables outside, food served from a weird half bar/half food counter, music blasting so loud that we couldn 't talk, and a strange group of locals hanging around. But, my goodness, once the food was served we just looked at each other and simultaneously said: this is the best Thai we have ever had. And we all had a lot of it, as we live in New York City. The food was AMAZING. Light, full of taste, fresh, not greasy, and just bursting with well balanced flavors of noodles, sauce, meats and vegetables. We just couldn 't believe how good it was, considering the far north location of the tiny town we were just passing by and the look of the restaurant. We just couldn 't resist chatting up the owner, from whom we learned that his Thai wife was running the kitchen. Heck, if you ever are in Northern Sweden or Northwestern Finland, it is worth driving an hour out of the way just to try this food. We are still talking about it with my daughters. Darn 6 stars. BEST. THAI. EVER. Outside of Thailand, of course.
Was driving from Kiruna to Finland and stopped by Pajala, searched for some lunch place and found this on TripAdvisor.. Was lunch buffé time so could not order anything from the menu, was first disappointed cause of it but the lunch buffé was really tasty.. I'm eating only gluten free food and they had couple of Choises there in the buffé, 5 stars out of 5 thank you guys!
After days of Christmas food it was a real treat to eat here. The lunch buffet offered both rice and noodles. Dishes included pad thai, yellow beef curry, chicken satay and breaded fish fillets. All for a mere 80 kr!! Honestly one of the best Thai restaurants I have come across in Northern Sweden and Finland.
