Jesse's El Taco De Mexico - Oxnard

Looking for some delicious, affordable Mexican food that's simple? The asada tacos were my favorite here. The meat is flavorful and slightly salty, just how I like it. The burritos are a decent size with rice, beans, salsa, and meat. The other meats were okay, nothing too impressive. This place reminds me of a taco shop in Tijuana. The only other place I would recommend besides this is Saviers Taco Shop for better meat quality and fresh tortillas. Overall, I would give this place in Oxnard a solid 2 out of 5 for tacos.

The tacos at this restaurant were very bad! I do not recommend them if you want to avoid stomach pain. I was recommended this place by a friend, but I believe they use cheap meat which affects the taste of the tacos. None of the tacos I ordered had any flavor. The carne asada meat was only salty, and did not taste like meat. The al pastor was marinated but lacked flavor. The burrito had more rice and beans than meat, but the beans were actually more flavorful. They did not provide lemons or radishes like other places, and only put salsa on the tacos if specifically asked. Additionally, there was a strong chemical smell in the restaurant from a worker cleaning, which made our experience even worse. I will not be returning to this restaurant or giving it a second chance. I give it 2 stars only because the woman at the register was beautiful.

This place is what you would call a hidden gem - a very small restaurant with literally only two tables, but the majority of people order takeout. They serve authentic Mexican food, and my go-to order would be a burrito with chile relleno, either with carnitas or asada, along with guacamole, cilantro, and red sauce. There are other dishes that are also delicious. And don't forget to try the horchata - it's delicious.
