Went to the wood fire grill side for the first time this past weekend. I loved the atmosphere, perfect for date night! I had the filet and it was excellent. My husband had the salmon and it was very good as well. The service was great. We will be going back soon and I will post pictures. Definitely recommend!
We ordered the Tortora's Supreme and they do not skimp on the toppings even in this economy. The leftovers served me well, too.
Every time I have gone to Tortoras it has been not good. This was the last straw for me. I arrive early before the dinner crowd at 4:40 and get seated. When I look at the menu and ask what the difference is between the small and dinner portion and she would say only that there was a two ounce difference after the multiple attampts to see if she could help me guage it better. She was very cold, and to be honest other wait staff in the past has been very cold too. I ordered mozzarella sticks and baked ziti. She never brought out the mozzarella sticks and the baked ziti was the saddest unbaked ziti of my life. There was nothing baked about this and was very bland. When the food was brought over I asked for the mozzarella sticks again, and she asked if it was to go. I finally received them, but they seem no different than the bulk mozzarella sticks you get at the grocery store. While I was still eating, she came over twice to ask me if I want a to go box. I am not a slow eater, so there wasn't any confusion if I was done or not. Also, in the middle of my meal she asked me if I wanted dessert. For the time I was there and all the wait staff lingering around, they seem pretty rushed to get me out of there.
3.5 star. I've been here a few times over the years and it's the same thing each time, decent food but kinda steep prices. The gluten free pizza is a more expensive choice, but my complaint was, the charges for adding toppings are fine as long as you get a decent amount of those toppings. It looked like they took 1 slice of ham for the whole 10 pizza. I had to break up jalapeños to get some on each piece. And the spinach we paid for seemed to only be on one side as well. Also the cherry tomatoes were still cold!!! Not going to say Domino's is better quality, but you get more bang for your buck; the one in Hampton Cove will load the heck outta that gluten free Pacific Veggie. Tortoras IS better than Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza though; E S is very skimpy on toppings (at least the one near Campus 805 was, their pizza was just as costly or even more so and had way less toppings that I paid extra for. It was sad. Also at Tortoras, my husband's calzone was 65% bread. He had one little scoop of bacon/pepperoni and cheese inside. This is kind of typical for calzones, but just fyi, don't expect fuller ones here. The cheesy bread was also very bready and not so cheesy...very thin layer of cheese. But the bread was decent quality. All in all the food tastes good/seasoned well/good quality... but you've got to know what you're in for with their pricing. We will be back but probably in another year or so! Domino's has been awful about answering the phone so we headed here for a pizza craving. Tortoras quality/seasonings are better but not worth the cost difference for me. I think it was $5-7 more per a 10 gluten free pizza (how I order toppings . So not awful, but that adds up over time.
