Friends Family Restaurant - Owen Sound

The restaurant has friendly staff, but the place is in need of a thorough cleaning. There are too many decorations cluttering the space, and there is dirt on the ceiling and sticky floors and tables. The bacon and egg breakfast was okay, but my husband's scrambled egg poutine was disappointing - the eggs were overly salty and overcooked, and the potatoes were burnt. Unfortunately, our waitress was too busy to check on us. Overall, we probably won't be returning to this restaurant. Food rating: 2 out of 5.

We observed that other diners who arrived after us were served their food before us. When we asked about our order, we were informed that it had been "misplaced". There was no apology or explanation given. Additionally, the server was not friendly or polite. It is also concerning to note a pattern in reviews regarding the treatment of people of color at this establishment. Overall, the service received a rating of 1 out of 5.

If you are a person of color, it is best to avoid this restaurant and either go hungry or find another place to eat. The waitress made us feel unwelcome and like a burden for asking to be seated. She seated us at a dirty table with dishes from previous customers and did not give us menus. She then asked us to leave our water bottle outside and when we asked for a garbage to dispose of it, she told us to throw it out wherever we got it from. Every table in the restaurant stared at us uncomfortably, so we decided to leave. It is unfortunate and heartbreaking to experience such hate for simply wanting a meal. This does not align with the welcoming reputation of small Canadian towns. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

This is coming from a person of colorOur experience was horrible we were hoping for something good to come from a local restaurant. When we walked in we were confused because we weren’t seated and when we asked the women working there she said you can sit anywhere but when we tried to seat down at a table she said you can’t sit there. So finally when we sat down we weren’t even given a menu and when she came over she kicked us out because we had Tim Hortons like what the flip is wrong with them. But it’s whatever because we walked down to osmows where we were treated fairly

They serve a great breakfast here and the service was awesome! Definitely recommend!
