We dine at this restaurant at least once or twice a month because the food is exceptional. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the dishes. We have eaten there over 40 times and have never been disappointed. In fact, some of the best meals we have ever had were at this restaurant. They offer a variety of dishes, from traditional Flemish meals to more exotic options like Kangaroo and Sting-Ray. The owners are clearly kitchen specialists and their expertise shines through in every dish. While the restaurant may be a bit of a drive outside the city, it is definitely worth it.
We had a nice dinner at this restaurant, but the service left a little to wish for. The waitress really looks at you from the height. In the mochito we ordered was even less alcohol than the 7up lemonade from the grocery store. ...and some discussion about this didn't work out. Conclusion, good kitchen, but slow and unympathetic service, absoluously avoiding, even if all other restaurants under the church towers are from redemption.
Went down at 9:45 p.m. on their terrace. An hour later, no food. The waitress forgot the order of the food to pass. Okay, no problem. Order's still done. Salad with bacon and goat cheese. I got a salad that looked nothing like the salad goat cheese I normally get. The goat cheese was like an uncomfortable quack on top of the salad. My neighbour from another table thought it was a greasy clothing mayonnaise. I sent everything back. I couldn't order any more because the kitchen was closed. When I suggested the waitress to get a wine from the hoses, there was no response. The boss would come to us. On the way to our table, he shoved other clients at their table. I went to see if he was the boss and explained the problem. I didn't get anything off the house, and I didn't even taste it according to him. I'm glad he could see that from his kitchen... I see I've come here to eat here a lot, 31 years in overseas, and I don't think I can do this. I also said I wasn't planning on coming back. food he said in a very bone and arrogant way: No problem, customers enough! So I didn't have a good night with a nice bite, scandalous just to treat your clients like that! I'm not good with it yet.
Our foreign guests love this place. We do too. Good to great food with one of the best beer menus anywhere with a view of a thousand year old church tower out the window-part of the total De Met experience. In the autumn when they have wild game on the menu this place is truly special. Perfect? No. The wine menu is uninspiring-mostly mediocre Merlot. De Met would benefit with a good Cabernet, Malbec, Old Vine Zinn to accompany their steaks or game.
Can't recommend this place enough, the service and quality is superb and if you want good food at reasonable prices this is a must visit. My wife loves the summer salads here and they are always presented in a stunning fashion. Me I love the steak always cooked as requested.
