I ordered many paintings at wans while I lived in barrhavens. later I called in advance and asked that it be available for a certain time. for example, I called today at 15:30 a.m. for a pick-up at 18:30 a.m. it is now 7:58 clock and. my order is ready. unacceptable I can understand that a little patient is required, but really 1.5 hours maybe they should not take so many if they can not fulfill them in time. I really want to support the locals, but they can only wait 1.5 hours so often before they try something else.
The restaurant does not look like much on the outside, but eating that they serve is excellent and plentiful. the combi plates are particularly good and very valuable. simply, one of the better Chinese takeout restaurants in barrhaven. we're coming back. finally the service was absolutely first advice.

At this point I have to keep it simple. There’s little left to say about how bad or, on a good day, how mediocre the Chinese cuisine offerings are in the Ottawa region. In fact there’s only one restaurant that comes close to being traditional...and where the dishes pack a flavour punch and that’s, the oddly named, Full House on Carling. There are some very good options in Ottawa but those are places that specialize in Northern Chinese Cuisine which for many palates is a little too boutique. So to Wan’s, both the hot and sour soup and open ended egg rolls are qualitatively above average and are worth having on repeat. The wonton soup broth was not just msg laced water as it so often is at most restaurants, but the pork filling was so laden wth some sort of starch filler that it was both flavourless and stodgy like undercooked dough. The mains of Beef in Black Bean Sauce and Sam See Chow Mein (egg noodles with chicken and pork and Chinese mushrooms) were larger than expected and I was hopeful once getting home. Sadly the beef dish had a watery sauce that was grotesquely under seasoned and the noodles had precisely no mushrooms but did have shrimp in addition to chicken and pork. Oh and the noodles had practically no seasoning at all and so (luckily I have a full pantry of Asian ingredients) I actually needed to create my own sauce. Both dishes also came with a surplus of second rate bell peppers irregularly cut. On the UP side, nothing was overcooked and dishes were clearly made with fresh ingredients. I was however pleased with the running of the operation. I counted 6 people in the, very apparently clean, kitchen and the front of the shop was equally tidy. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes and it was ready in 25 so kudos to Wan’s on a few fronts. Now if they could just rework their recipes...
