The Barley Mow is next to a popular cinema and a church that is used for concerts so it is best to reserve a table in the evening. The service is pleasant but the place gets very noisy when full. We had the vegetable curry and fish and chips and both were perfectly acceptable.
This is a great place to gather for a few drinks and great eating selections. They have a exceptional selection of single malt Scotch. The pub style fair is served in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The service we received on the outdoor patio was fantastic tonight. Our server, a friendly and humorous gentleman, was very skilled. While the food was decent, the tuna poke dish had too many conflicting flavors, making it a bit overpowering. Nonetheless, it was a welcomed healthy choice.
My friends and I attempted to dine at this restaurant, but despite all of us being over 19 years old, we were treated terribly. A friend from the US was told her Massachusetts ID was not valid and she needed her passport for service. When my friend and I from BC presented our driver's licenses, we were also told they were not sufficient and required additional ID. I tried showing my health card and my friend showed her nexus card, but they were deemed insufficient by our server. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this dreadful restaurant. It would be more productive to spend time hammering a nail through your cornea.
