Sushi Umi - Ottawa

Good tasty but expensive food for dine-in but hopeless and extremely expensive for takeout. A $36.99 "party tray" included probably enough nibbles for only about 4 people and the edamame (which they warm up when you pick up your tray) is inedible. After picking up the Sushi Umi "party tray" I went to the local grocery store and picked up the same quantity and quality food for $8.99 A previous visit for Sushi Umi takeout meals for 2 included tempura which was rubbery, cold and a bit greasy. With all of the competition in the Westboro neighbourhood, you'd think this place would do much better. Unfortunately, they don't. Two strikes and one hit. Not sure we will give them another at-bat.Stick with dine-in and bring a heavy wallet.

A culinary wonderland awaits at Sushi Umi. Rolls, sashimi and lots of hot dishes are always pleasing and the quaint (unlicensed) space, is a great place for take out or a last minute dine in option. The food is very good, and the variety is excellent.

I've been going to Sushi Umi since they first opened several years ago, and have eaten there over 50 times. They do take away as well and are very quick to prepare sushi. Very fresh, extremely knowledgeable Chef/Owner. They also have gluten free soy sauce, which surprisingly enough, several Ottawa Sushi places do not carry. Highly recommended!

It has been tough to find good sushi in Ottawa, but we will be looking no further now that we have found Sushi Umi. The menu is lengthy with both traditional options and other unique creations (think salmon, mango, cucumber, avocado, lemon and mushroom). The sushi was delivered quickly and everything was incredibly fresh. Our only predicament was not ordering everything we wanted on account of it being too much food. Price was moderate value for what you received. We cannot wait to return to try some more of the delicious sounding options!

Been coming here for years off and on. Not the most beautiful place but delicious and great value. My kind of hole in the wall. Love it.
