Petit Peru Hull - Ottawa

A few years back, my daughters celebrated their birthday at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and had the horses ready for my girls and their 8-10 friends.

Although we really enjoyed both the chicken and beef empanadas I was not crazy about my main dish which was tepid rice dish made with garlic, ginger and chicken. It was described to me by our server, as a Chinese and Peruvian fusion.

Recently, this restaurant relocated to Montcalm Street on the Gatineau side, near the BDT. The food was absolutely delicious, with all seven of us ordering different dishes and thoroughly enjoying each one. Plus, it's affordable! However, there was a bit of a wait to place our order and receive the bill. This seems to be due to understaffing, as the waiters were clearly doing their best. The owner should consider hiring more staff to improve service efficiency.

I saw this place while eating at a pho restaurant across the street. Decided to order for delivery a little later in the week. Am I glad I did. The food is terrific! Ordered their chicken (moist and very flavorful with a delicious white creamy sauce on the side), beef strips (again, marinated, tender and full of flavor) with some empanadas (chicken and beef. I particularly liked the beef). Everything was very good! I'd highly recommend and will be ordering from here again!

The ambiance may not be outstanding, but the service is pleasant and the cuisine is delicious. My dining companion mentioned that the food is authentically Peruvian. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Peruvian dishes as I find them a bit rich, but the flavors were exceptional. Make sure to sample the blue corn juice - it's a must-try!
