We just had lunch at Maison Baguette. We had the mushroom soup (2), ham sandwich turkey sandwich and cookies for desert. The service was excellent, the soup was home made and the sandwich were really stuff with lots of good things. I recommend this...location to anyone.
Sadly I have to say the fact is they have no competition thus not a bad choice if your here, but the service was slow and unhelpful. The coffee comes from a Kruger machine! The espresso is prepackaged. The pastries were covered in super sweet...icing sugar with a bad chemical aftertaste (one person described it as emmental on a cinnamon bun! The hot chocolate comes from a machine. Ok my expectations was much higher for a bakery that advertises itself as a cafe. The do not take credit cards but politely tell you there is an ATM 2 blocks away (as you try to pay with your interact card. Honestly the only reason I gave it a 2 was that they have nice seating and the building has charm.
New owners and menu. The restaurant offers sandwiches, freshly prepared soups and Mexican cuisine. Very reasonable prices. Owners are on hand and are friendly, efficient and welcoming. I look forward to our occasional lunch there!
Today I was introduced into this wonderful restaurant experience. Housed in an older house in the east of the city, there is a jewel. Before I came to the restaurant, I could smell the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread. When entering this charming restaurant, I'm at home right away. Of course I wanted to have the special, the homemade soup, sandwich, dessert and coffee for $7.99, an amazing value and more, as the whole food is homemade. The soup I chose was the Kale and Bean with fresh parsley, it was very good. For the sandwich there are too many ways to mention, and for everyone you can choose what kind of homemade bread you want and what you want, the list is extensive. I chose on Pumpernickelbrot a turkey sandwich with Havarti cheese, shredded carrot, green olives, salad, tomatoes, green pepper with Mayo and mustard, homemade fudge and a large cup of coffee. My lunch companion had the same soup, a turkey sandwich on seven grain bread, with bread pudding for dessert and tea. What a meal! I was full and happy! What an incredible value! The owner is a beautiful young woman who not only took our orders, but came out during our meal to ensure that we were satisfied with our food. The whole experience was a pleasure and I will go back and forth. I recommend this restaurant.
