First off the guy behind the counter had an attitude like he didnt really wanna be there and I kinda get that. So i make my order he grabs and pita to make my shawarma and lets out a burp. I was like wtf so in a bit of shock i tell him what i want. My phone rang didnt really pay attention. So I am sitting down go to take a bite and most of it falls out the bottom. After that I was pissed. So if you like to feel like your doing someone a favour for a meal that you are paying for go here......
Soon to move in the area looking for a good local Shawarma place. It was a cold day but inside was just as cold. Ordered a chicken shawarma plate, yellow rice, potatoes, tabouleh, salad, pickles, turnip and garlic sauce with hummus on a side plate. all tasted fresh, salad was nice and crunchy, tabouleh wasnt "wet" or "soggy" less sourness than typical tabouleh. chicken was well cooked, you can taste the seasoning/spices. potatoes were okay, had this almost a week ago, potatoes werent memorable. pickles are tasty and turnips were soft yet crunchy.would have to go again, but did not like the coldness. Couldn't enjoy my food but it was good, service was good, atmosphere better in the summer. value: due to certain places downtown, hard to beat but for a local place it was okay. will definitely do another review
Since my beloved yalla yalla in riverside south closed, I have been forced to venture further from home for my shawarma fix. A few years back, I used to stop here (Guava's) on my way home from work, and always enjoyed the food, but since we got some good ones nearer to home, and I retired, I no longer frequented this place.Well, as I say the one in my neighborhood closed up, and I was so disappointed, but not to be daunted, have tried a couple of new ones, well, one is not so new, but is now once again my go to place for great Shawarma sandwich. Guava's did not disappoint. Quick and friendly service, and quality food. I will be seeing you all at Guava's again soon.
I frequent Guava's and the main reason is because they always give you ample amounts of chicken. A lot of shawarma places measure out or are very conservative with the portions where as Guava's is always full value and amazing quality.
I eat here for lunch almost everyday. I work across the parking lot from them so it's very convenient. The chicken is always good...the beef is hit and miss. It's the healthiest quick lunch around other than Subway. Nice people and great service. $ 7.00 for a small shawarma and a can of pop...you can't go wrong
