Great find! I was in the mood for a local breakfast and stumbled upon Good Eats, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered two eggs over easy with toast, beans, and tomatoes. It was fantastic! I will definitely be coming back to try their lunch menu.
This restaurant in Ottawa serves the best breakfast! Coming from Austria, we were looking for a place that offered healthy breakfast options with good quality bread. We were thrilled to find smashed avocado bread with extra salmon and a sunny egg, as well as Chia and yogurt bowls with fresh fruits. The Dutch baby pancakes, a special Sunday brunch item, were a treat with the famous maple syrup. The team at "Good Eats" made sure every breakfast wish was fulfilled, making us feel like we were in heaven. We highly recommend this place for anyone visiting or passing through Ottawa! Thank you for a memorable breakfast experience.
A lovely café with tasty affordable food. I liked the eclectic furniture and overall atmosphere. The food was delicious and portions were fair for the price. It seems they have found a good balance. I can see myself returning with friends to hang out on a rainy Saturday morning.
And my wife! So lets be clear EVERYONE who worked at Good Eats were super friendly and service was efficient mind you we arrived at opening and were the only customers so your mileage may vary. I ordered the build your own breakfast and...my wife ordered the good eats benny . We ran into some problems pretty much from the get go mostly the menu didn 't reflect what was available. No ham for the good eats benny or multigrain for the build your own breakfast on the menu but not available that day. Not a super problem but a bit of a disappointment substituted veggie bacon and sour dough toast and we moved on. The service is kind of weird we ordered at the counter (and paid) then sat down. They ask your name so I 'm assuming once things get hopping you likely have to go to the counter to get your food. Since we were the only customers at the time the VERY friendly counter person brought us our meals. Coffee is serve yourself not sure if it is a bottomless cup but that day I assumed it was your mileage as usual will vary. We bused our own table at the end they put out bins for dirty dishes. Remember everything is personal taste and for us the taste of what we ordered wasn 't our cup of tea. You may love it but not us. The place makes their own ketchup which reminded me of a mildly spicy farm style chili/chutney. You have to ask for it and it tastes like it is also mixed into their beans. Not a fan. The eggs were nicely done, found the fennel sausage patty a bit bland (thus the ketchup), and being a fan of latkes (aka potato pancakes) their version isn 't inspiring. Oddly enough the surprise winner was the veggie bacon. Not sure what it was made of but it was salty and crisp kind of reminded me of parmesan chips. As I said everything comes down to personal tastes and for us this place is a pass.
