Bazille - Ottawa

Après un peu de shopping nous sommes allé manger à Bazille. Déco sympa et repas correct, nous avons bien mangé.

A Nordstrom department store dining space; wife had Tuna salad which she raved about; mine was Crab Macaroni with salad: garden fresh, great seasoning, nice portion. No wonder this place won among best dining places in Ottawa in 2016. With wine and taxes and service $62 for the two of us. Great service (en français) and enjoyable spacious environment with background music. Nice

Light dinner Saturday night just before walking over to City Hall to see La Machine's Long Ma wake up. The service and food was excellent as usual despite larger than normal the weekend crowds.

The restaurant is in Nordstrom's but did not feel like your average department store restaurant. It has a lovely roof top terrace and a well stocked bar. Prices were reasonable.My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised with the meal we had at Bazille. We shared the Berry and Fig salad served with goat cheese and candied almonds which was drizzled with the most wonderful Vanilla bean vinaigrette salad dressing . This was the best salad dressing I have ever had. We both ordered the Bazille Burgers which were tasty and cooked to perfection and came with the tastiest lightly seasoned fries served with a peppercorn aioli for dipping. Honestly I am not a fan of fries but ate everyone of them. I am also not a salad dressing fan but bought two bottles of the Champagne vinaigrette base for the vanilla bean salad dressing. Our server was kind enough to get the full recipe for us.I will definitely be returning the next time I am at the Rideau Centre for shopping or even if I happen to be downtown for whatever. A most pleasant experience.

My wife and I shared a warm Asian chicken salad and the burger. Both were fantastic. The salad featured just the right amount of delicious dressing, the wonton strips were crisp not soggy, and the chicken was grilled to perfection. The burger was juicy and tasty (though a little closer to medium well than medium), but the fries were a little on the soggier side. Service was very friendly and informed, and there was the added bonus of being able eat on the terrace. Most pleasant. We were too full for dessert, but they looked delicious
