Avant-Garde Bar & Gift Shop - Ottawa

Live music most weekends with friendly staff. It is a smaller venue so not very good for larger groups but a nice place to have a drink and catch up with friends. Across the street from Les Suites and not far from Novatel.

Petit bar soviet avec un bon menu de vodka, de bières de micro-brasserie et autre alcool à prix raisonnable (demandez au proprio ce qu'il a, ce n'est pas toujours écrit sur le menu). concerts de musique locale (tout répertoire!!) souvent le soir à petits prix aussi.

Good for live events and the general quirky atmosphere which unusual in the centre of Ottawa. It is family owned, they have a good collection of eastern European spirits and vodkas. Not expensive. Their finger food is quite nice too.

I can't speak for the food, but the drinks we had there were reasonably priced and special. A very good selection of vodka which is served with a side of sliced pickles. The bar itself is pretty basic and not flashy. The atmosphere is very cool & nonchalant.My friends & I enjoyed a fabulous night there. Definitely a unique experience you can't find anywhere else in Ottawa. Fun live music.

Only bar in Ottawa that is unique and womderful. An honest bar with great local acts. Good beer selection with Baltika and Steam Whistle and more.
