All of the meat was tender for what type it was. The whale steak was really tender and basically tastes like a piece of beef that ate a ton of seaweed when it was alive, I honestly expected salty and fish flavored.
We were actually excited to eat on this restaurant because of many good reviews. But the food was a let down. The fish soup taste more like a cream with seafoods on it. The mussels were okay. But we were very disappointed with the taste of Norway. This was the reason why we came here for. The meats were raw inside and underseason. On the bright side, the restaurant has a nice interior. Service was meh.
Good food let down by poor service received on the night. All the dishes we ordered were of good taste and quality. Within our party we ordered the seafood chowder, fried whale, stew of game, skagenrore and cured reindeer. All the dishes were tasty and well received. The chowder came out a bit cold and when asked to help reheat it, they actually ended up serving completely new bowls this was great service and we appreciated it. Where we felt let down was the waitress and how she dealt with us. She was inattentive, short spoken and unhelpful. Worst was when we came to pay and tried to use the Oslo pass for the discount. When we went to pay not all of us had downloaded the pass onto the app so we took a few minutes to activate it (accept this was partially our fault as we thought only one person had to show it). The waitress was visibly annoyed and even made a remark how other restaurants would have called security . Very unimpressed and to note, every other restaurant we dined at using the pass didn 't even ask to see it! I also read other recent reviews that spoke of poor service so this is clearly not isolated. Please do something about your service.
Great Norwegian restaurant, interior looked very style full. The food tasted great very good meat. The price in relative to the quality was okay, Oslo was typically a bit more expensive. Service was good even though the restaurant was full. Noticed some of the staff was new but really made the effort.
I ate whale steak in this restaurant. The restaurant has its own design and it looks cosy. After eating whale steak, I had some gastrointestinal problems. I don’t know was it because of the whale meat (I mean that this my first time trying whale meat, may be it is normal for the first time) or it was not prepared properly or it had already started to be spoilt. Anyway, I am always in the quest of traditional food but if you have a sensitive stomach, just evaluate other options…
