Przekaż informację zwrotnąI stopped by here mainly looking for some preprepared vegan food to bring to my grandparents' house. This place for the bill for that. I was excited, though, when I saw that they also had a lunch buffet set up, which appeared very vegan-friendly. Sadly, they (unnecessarily use fish broth in many of their otherwise vegan items (even their veggie burgers! , such that only a couple of their items were vegan/vegetarian.
As of March 2016, there have been changes to the buffet at this restaurant. It is now smaller and the soup stock has been switched to fish-based. Although you can still find some options, it is not as good as it used to be. This store is a favorite of mine because they offer a variety of vegan bread and organic vegetables, which can be hard to find in other grocery stores. However, it is important to read the ingredients list or ask for assistance, as they offer both vegan and non-vegan bread options. On Sundays, they sometimes run out of bread. I recommend trying the Unohana cookies, but be aware that there are many non-vegan options available as well. They also offer a canned meat substitute called hatake no niku. Vegan chocolate is also available, except during the summer months when it may melt during shipping. The lunch buffet is good, but some days are more veg-friendly than others. This review has been updated since its previous publication in 2009.
I came here looking for prepared vegan food to bring to my grandparents' house. I was happy to see they had a midday buffet that seemed vegan-friendly. However, I was disappointed to learn that many of their items contained fish broth, including their veggie burger. Only a few of their items were truly vegan/vegetarian.
I discovered this vegan bento box at our monthly meeting with the Japan Vegetarian Society, of which I am a council member. We absolutely loved it! The food was very delicious and healthy. I especially enjoyed the vegan cheese toppings on top of the perfectly roasted tofu.
Updated in March 2016: The buffet at this restaurant has been changed to a smaller selection and now uses fish for their soup stock. It's not as good as it used to be. I do appreciate that they offer vegan bread and organic vegetables, but make sure to check the ingredients list as they also offer non-vegan options. They tend to run out of bread often. I recommend trying the unohana cookies and meat alternative (hatake no niku). They also offer vegan chocolate, but not during the summer due to melting. The lunch buffet is decent, but some days have more vegetarian-friendly options than others.
