The event center offered a variety of games and activities to enjoy. This is definitely a place worth visiting, and we are already planning to return in the future. It's conveniently located near Itasca State Park. The numerous water features throughout the grounds create a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. There’s even a new campground! For entertainment, you can enjoy a volleyball court, a basketball court, axe throwing, horseshoe pits, a grilling area, and plenty of walking trails to explore. Additionally, there are some excellent golf courses nearby to check out.
The campgrounds and cabins are beautiful and impeccably clean. We held a family reunion here, and we all had a wonderful time. The large hot tub and well-equipped game room were fantastic features. It's clear that the owners and staff truly care about this place, and it really shines through. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more frequently. Rooms: 5/5
The Cookhouse has really declined, and I was taken aback by the experience. Out of the 11 people in my group, nine were extremely dissatisfied with their meals. The service was slow, the pasta was greasy, and the chicken breast was undercooked. My salad was supposed to have raspberry vinaigrette, but it turned out to be pure soy sauce, which I only realized after it had already been poured on. The chicken strawberry salad was also disappointing because the dressing was just as bad. The Chicken Alfredo consisted of noodles, chicken, and a buttery sauce that had no parmesan cheese at all. We had to request the dinner rolls that were meant to accompany the salad entrees. Additionally, asking for cheese curds instead of fries came with a $10 upcharge, and what we received was neither a full order nor properly prepared. We were informed that there is a new manager and chef, but I think they should both reconsider their positions. Ultimately, I won't be returning.
This resort is a hidden gem!! We stayed in the campground and another couple we were with stayed in a cabin. Everyone there extremely friendly and accommodating. We ate supper there the first night and my husband and the other couple we were with are still raving about the duck wings!! The menu was so unique and the drinks menu was amazing....try the campfire cocktail! The grounds are beautiful and even more stunning at night when they are all lit up. They are right in the middle of many many miles of trail systems right off of their grounds....we spent 6 hours on the Smokey Hills State Forest trail system and it was great! The cabins are super cute and very cozy. We used the hot tub and true to it 's name it was HOT!The only suggestion that we would have for them is to update their website as the photos of the grounds and cabins do not do this place justice. Our friends did not know what to expect with the cabin they rented because the pictures were not great, but it EXCEEDED anything they could have expected. Also, on the website it says that the hot tub is coming soon ...need to update that it is there. All in all we WILL be back many times in the future!
Decent buffet for Sundays. We want to thank the staff for accommodating us quickly even though we didn't have reservations for Father's day. the service was excellent!Food drinks: I do think you missed the mark a bit by not having biscuits n gravy for dads day but otherwise the food was decent.
