The Shore - Orkney Islands

The hotel has been completely refurbished since my last visit and it has been done to a very high standard. They have a variety of rooms and all have modern facilities and beautiful decor. It is a complete transformation from a few years ago.

Top location. Right in the middle of the action. Great sized room and service from staff who are managing it the kirkwall hotel next door. The room was fine but we had a very noisy neighbour above us. Banging and walking about, water flushing we heard it all. My other suggestion would be to tidy up street frontage The Shore appears shut down and forgotten about on the outside. Out our window in the courtyard was a blue tarp thrown over some items ??? . Presentation matters.

You don't think about accomodation for mobility impairment until you do. Then it's all you think about. The Shore is outstanding in this regard. Floor level access, no stairs, and the toilet and shower are totally great for those in wheelchairs or walkers. Well done! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

Both the hotel and the restaurant I think are closed as such, although they belong to the same owners as the nearby Kirkwall Hotel, who use it as an extension of it. We booked at the Kirkwall Hotel, but being 5 they took us here that they said we could be together. We were the only ones in the whole building. No guests, no employees. It wasn't good for him, because it seemed that we were punished for being a large family. The room did not meet the conditions that we needed and suffered several percances and even cold at the beginning. Until I gave the way to turn on the radiators. I didn't have any windows either, just some little Velux on the roof. Breakfast we had to go to the Kirkwall Hotel I would dare to think that this place is reforming it little by little, when they have funds or the opportunity and from time to time, if necessary, they use it.
