However, waiting 45 minutes in line for a slice of pizza and then spending over half an hour trying to leave the parking lot, with most gates locked, was not acceptable for a venue of this size. We are unlikely to return after this experience.
What a huge disappointment. This restaurant has really gone downhill. With the price now at $44.00 per person plus tip, you would expect the food to be better. Unfortunately, the food quality and selection are lacking. The beef was tough like leather, the wonton soup tasted like saltwater without any green onions, Bok Choy, or sesame oil. The dishes were bland, the pizza was hard to chew, the desserts were lacking, and they no longer offer a sugar-free option. It felt like the food was comparable to cafeteria food but way overpriced. Even the buns were dry and stale. You would be better off going to Mandarin or the Eastside Mario's down the road for better food at a better price. I would rate this place a 4 out of 10.
St Germains excellent again. Kayla was superb. Room was great as well. However we were reduced from Gold status to Silver at the end of March even though access and health concerns prevented us from visiting.Furthermore they now take back your comps if not used within 90 days. Since Gateway took over people seem to have found other alternatives and not returned. Why the Cedar restaurant closed when it was alway busy is mind boggling. If Gateway thinks by reducing perks is going to encourage guests to visit more often they are wrong and forcing them to sample the competition. Judging by Casino capacity compared to before Gateway took over some senior heads should roll. Gerry
My son decided to surprise me with an eighty-sixth birthday gift of a stay in the Rama Casino plus tickets to the Beach Boys show. I had been there many years previously when they first opened. At that time I didn 't stay in the hotel. When we arrived the casino property was amazing, as I remembered it. The surprise was when we went to our room, it was luxurious, the standard deluxe suite with a king bed and spacious sitting area with all the amenities that one would expect in a class hotel accommodation. We had travelled from the West Coast to spend a few days with our family in Ottawa. My son decided to provide me with a memory I 'm not likely to forget. In the short time we were there we couldn 't do everything and try all the dining venues. We did eat in the Simcoe Yard House and had breakfast at the Weirs Restaurant, both of these dining venues had excellent food. I would highly recommend either establishment. This is a casino, so the question of how we did is mute. We didn 't but we did have fun, that 's what we went for. It would have been nice to say we won big, but we didn 't. The main reason for coming to Rama, in addition to the casino, was to see a show. This time it was the Beach Boys which was something of interest in our earlier life. The show was in a venue that seats over 5, 000 people and it was sold out I would guess there were about 4, 000 there. The show was great the performers brought back many positive memories. I could easily recommend a visit to the Rama Casino for a stay and show.
We just spent two days at Casino Rama for our 60th Anniversary we enjoyed our stay very much , , , , Did not win any money but that was a mute point for us as we were there to enjoy some time away and celebrate with family. I have a few comments here in regards to the atmosphere of the Casino, .... Firstly the register lobby needs some work, there is no welcoming feeling when you walk in, it is just blah!! And the bus Lobby or rotunda as I call it, is missing the light show of foot prints on the floor and the tree faces lighting up and telling a story... People like to sit and listen and maybe even rest a bit from walking.. Food wise we understand with Covid things have changed and it is hard to get back into the norm of things. I can only hope on our next visit things will have improved and the heat turned up....
