Upon arrival, we haven 't been greeted by any of the staff. Once we finally sat down, we ordered 4 starters and 5 entrees. The starters and the entrees didn 't have any order of arrival. After a long wait two entrees arrived, and only after 40 minutes the remaining two. During this long wait, we asked explanation to both waiters and their reply was not only unprofessional but meanless, I quote I tried to ask to the kitchen but they sent me out, I will try again now . The other waitress, the head waitress I believe, replied, I quote I had a discussion with the staff, I don 't know . Not only after we had waited 1 hour we received a very low quality food but also a very high and no discounted check (something that I would expect after such a a horrible service). At our exit, again, nobody said goodbye and thanked us for our visit. Nobody from the management took the time to apologize for the situation or offer something to easy the pain of such a bad experience. I took my family to celebrate an important occasion and my opinion is that the place is bad quality of food, low quality of service and poor experience. I would NOT reccommed this restaurant not even of paid to go. I am an active member of the industry, therefore I belive I am qualified to discredit this restaurant for anyone who is looking forward to have a good experience.
We had a very good meal here, maybe not a Michelin star quality experience but it certainly met our needs. The service was somewhat slow, so you might not want to come here during the height of the tourist season in the summer during the main dining hours unless you are patient....but if you are here to relax and enjoy life in a small seaside town, then waiting awhile should not be a problem. The interior ambiance is very basic, the energy of the family goes into preparing the food. There is plenty of pedestrian activity flowing past, great architecture to study and time to enjoy your food and beverage(s). You will need to park in a public lot or on the street and walk for a few minutes to get here, but the town is very scenic and not that large.
Our first night in Orbetello, looking for a local restaurant off the square. We found it in Il Nocchino. A family run Osteria with outdoor and indoor seating, very friendly wait staff, and an excellent chef. We ordered a Spaghetti Ragu, and a Spaghetti di Mare, and the sauces were both very good, fresh pasta, fresh seafood, fresh meat, good wine and very good beer. A nice place in a cute little town. We were only there two nights, but did try to go back a second night, but someone in the family got married, so it was closed. A gem of an Osteria, should be tried.
Fish dinner: noodles with shrimps and zucchini and spaghetti with a rock. to follow a fish fry. all very good. One thing to avoid is the white wine of the house, which unfortunately I asked but that it is worth nothing. I'd still recommend it.
