Been there several times. Great atmosphere. A couple of the wines are very good in our opinion. I would give that 4 stars. Recently went and heard the Friends of Soulj great band! I would give that 5 stars. They had a food truck serving food. I would give that 1 star. The food was very expensive and you had to stand in line over 30 minutes to get served. Totally unacceptable.. If that is the process in the future, we won 't be there. If they can improve the food situation, they would get 5 stars in my book.
Beautiful winery with excellent wine and small plate food options. We visited impulsively on a rainy Thursday afternoon in August, and they had a covered patio and a tent to make for a comfortable visit. It was not very busy at that time.Pros:*Delicious wine and fresh food. We enjoyed our tasting.*Ample seating and a beautiful view.*well maintained, beautiful grounds*knowledgeable staff/bartender*generous pours for a tasting shared a flight with my spouse (flights only available during the weekdays, I believe)*soda/water availability and cake pops perfect for our teen daughter*incredibly affordable for the quality of wine*discounts for buying 3+ bottles*only a few minutes off of the interstateCons:*the food ordering and pickup would benefit from some sort of text messaging system where you get a text when your food is prepared. We were encouraged to go outside and enjoy our wine, but then the bartender got busy with other guests and our food was forgotten until we checked on it ourselves. She warned us in advance that this might happen, but this issue could be easily resolved.*food was good but the menu could use some expansion more entrees needed. It’s a lot of small plates, so only a mediocre lunch stop unless you are only mildly hungryOverall though, it was a great experience and we’d recommend a stop.
We found this winery through Yelp on our way back from Virginia Beach. Very beautiful property and close parking right out front of the winery itself. We were greeted very kindly and asked if we were there for a wine tasting, wine club or just a visit. We were then invited to sit anywhere we liked and order from the bar inside. They produce both beer and wine but you can only have two small tastings to see what you might like. We ordered two beers (good), a $5 cake pop for our little and a pretzel. I was hoping to try a couple before choosing but the person pouring just listening to me talk about my typical favorite beers and didn't really help so I ordered one and went with it. We had to pick up our food order from another window even though you pay and tip right away which I want a fan off since how can you tip on food service before receiving it? Cake pop was small and pretzels tasted like they had been microwaved which was unfortunate since they were not inexpensive. Seating is the best part as they have two huge covered porches surrounding this gorgeous building. We didn't stay long as the vibe was strange and I asked to have a plastic cover to my leftover ground mustard since it was alot and they said they didn't have one?? You don't have to go orders needing covers? It felt very pretentious and we won't be back unfortunately.
Ambience GoodWine OkService a bit on the rude side. You they don't have true wine tasting it's really a wine bar and the staff are not friendly.
