Lupita's Authentic Mexican - Orangevale

Tried to go here today. Its 2pm and they ate closed. Also Google has it placed near Greenback and Folsom Auburn but it is actually Greenback near Main St.

I recently came here for lunch with an old friend, and I loved how home-made everything tasted. I think the woman who waited on us may have been Lupita herself, because that 's how my friend referred to her. Take as much time as you need to decide, he had said, Lupita doesn 't care how long we sit here for. I ordered the beef flautas with beans and rice, while he ordered beef enchiladas, no beans or rice. It 's been a long time since I 've eaten beans or rice, he said, staring at my plate longingly. Oh my gosh, I eat beans and rice like, every single day, I shamelessly replied. I actually felt kind of bad for him, because the beans and rice were really good. Lupita 's cooking reminded me of the cooking of my best friend from high school 's mom. The flautas were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, while the shredded beef filling was still juicy and tender. Aside from the beans and rice, the flautas were garnished with cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. All of it was so good, I think I actually scraped my plate clean. For about $10 per person (before tax and tip), the prices were not bad at all. Between the fresh flavor, authentic ambiance, and stellar service, eating at Lupita 's was a great experience, and I would love to come back again.

We wanted Mexican on a Sunday. Our usual spot was closed, but Lupita's was open. So glad we stopped in. Was greeted warmly and seated in a corner booth with a decor that felt very much like being in Mexico. Chips and salsa came out quickly. Salsa was excellent, chips were fine but would've been better if warm. I thought he was taking a chance ordering Mole, but it was a win! I just had a tostada (very good) but my fork kept crossing the table to his Mole enchilada. Yummmm We met Lupita as we were leaving. Lovely hostess and interesting history. This restaurant has been here for almost 27 years. I can see why it's survived. We will be back!

Google directions were incorrect. Directions indicated we turn into the Shell station. The restaurant is further west on Greenback.
